Creditosperu.com is the leading online loan marketplace and loan exchange technology provider in Peru and soon in other Latin American countries. “We want to offer all major personal financial products with lowest rates and with the best conditions. To the mortgage and personal loan line of products, we will add credit cards very soon and during the second semester of 2005 we will start offering auto-loans too”. Amongst services, CreditosPeru.com provides financial institutions with enhanced Internet-based loan management capabilities as well as consumer market intelligence. For the first time since its inception, the company reported positive pretax earnings from its more than 2,000 loan applications that the company originated and managed during 2004.
Graf expects nothing but good news going forward. The company is revving up to provide profits for the long term. "We have exceeded our own expectations" he said. Like most of the dot-coms, Creditosperu.com has spent heavily to acquire market share and said it has achieved remarkable market brand name recognition in Peru. The brand recognition has helped bring lenders to the online exchange. At press time, Creditosperu.com works with three partner-lenders on its exchange and will add two more “in the next quarter” according to Graf who added “brand recognition is one of the key things that make this type of online business model work”.
Consumer and Mortgage lending in Peru is currently a +$2 billion worth of loan stock market, of which, only $3 million represents online lending. We predict that the online lending market will grow to a stock of $120 million by 2007. Graf said the company continues to build strong partnerships with top Internet partners as well as lenders. "Our proposition to them is that we can bring good business to them if they bring good pricing for the target market that they focus on. We now have some partners that are getting 80 percent of their business through our portal," he said.
